Royal Troon in Scotland will host the 2024 British Open, the first time the course has hosted the Open since 2016. Scheffler is the 9/2 favorite to capture the Claret Jug at Royal Troon.

Scottie Scheffler has a chance to achieve a feat that has only been accomplished three times in the past 45 years: winning the Masters and the British Open in the same year. Of course, Scheffler's quest is far more arduous than this single achievement, but a Masters-Open double is one of the rarer feats in the entire sport of golf.

Few golfers have ever won two or more majors in a single year. It has only happened 13 times since 1980, with Nick Faldo (1990), Mark O'Meara (1998) and Tiger Woods (2005) being the three who have accomplished the feat at Augusta National Golf Club and the British Open venue.

Woods and Faldo did it at St. Andrews, while O'Meara did it at Royal Birkdale. Scheffler will become the third player to complete the Augusta-Tron double, following Arnold Palmer (1962) and Tom Watson (1982). These are pretty well-known names in the sport.

Tiger Woods will tee it up at the 2024 British Open, his first return to tournament golf since the U.S. Open. Woods, 48, has battled injuries over the past two decades and has played in just four PGA Tour events this year. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational, finished 60th at the Masters and missed the cut at both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open. This week, he's at +20,000 odds to win the 2024 British Open.World No. 1 and defending Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is the favorite at +450 to win the 2024 Open.

Sweden's Henrik Stenson won in 2016, and now Ludvig Aberg will try to become the second Swede to win a major. The 24-year-old finished runner-up at the Masters and held a 36-hole lead at the U.S. Open to all but lock up the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. He will team up with Bryson DeChambeau and Tom Kim to begin his quest for the 2024 Open Championship at 4:47 a.m. ET Thursday.

Aberg and DeChambeau are 9-1 in the 2024 British Open odds, trailing only Scottie Scheffler (4-1) and Rory McIlroy (8-1).Aberg’s compatriot Stenson is 200-1 in the latest 2024 British Open odds, tying him as the biggest winner in the 2024 British Open field.
